The New Anderton Boat Lift 10k & Fun Run

Starting & Finishing  at the Boat Lift which sits in a spectacular location between the River Weaver and

the Trent & Mersey Canal with runners & Families

having free access to the site and being able to take advantage of its Shop, Tree Top Coffee Shop,

Exhibition Area and the new £50,000 Play Area this New Event is set to be a must do Run on the Calendar.

The Run Goes Around the Trails of the Country Park and Starts & Finishes in the Grounds of the Boat Lift.

The Route is mainly undulating trails.

(Please note only assistance Dogs are Allowed in the Boat Lift Grounds)

Registration will take place in the Boat Lift Grounds

Saturday 19th May 10am to 3pm

Sunday 8am to 10:15am

The route follows a one way out section for approximately 1.9 miles

where you then join the lap section, runners then complete a Lap

(running over the chip mat at the feed Station twice)

before heading Back on a One Way Back Section to the Boat Lift). 

There will be a Clearly Signed and Marshaled at the chip mat/feed station - 
1st Time Over Chip Mat Turn Right
2nd Time Over Chip Mat Turn Left
This Means Each Runner will Visit the same Feed Station at 3 Mile & 4.3 Mile before heading back to the boat lift.

 

Runner Information

The 10k will be a Rolling Start between 10:30am & 10:45

This means your Personal Time will not start until you are ready to cross the Start Line

Please can faster runners assemble first

Your Chip must placed around either Ankle (Velcro Type)

Please remeber no chip no time!

Collect your Chip and Bib number at Registration on Saturday or Sunday Morning.

Toilets are located near the Start/Finish area with additional Portable Toilets Available.

Course Feed Stations will be stocked with

  • Water
  • Electolyte
  • Gels & Sweets

Please do not Litter the Route, Bins are provided.

Runners must give way to members of the public at all times

If you pull out of the race please give your chip back to a marshal or at Race HQ.

To celebrate its first 10K trail race and Fun Run on Sunday 20 May,

Cheshire is offering 30 free running places on the 10K trail to charities who want to enter sponsored runners.

Boat Lift Information

 Visitors can experience how it feels to be magically transported

through the Lift by this piece of high Victorian engineering.

Alternatively, guests can opt for a special boat trip and learn about the unique industrial heritage of Northwich,

a town that has made its living on salt for more than 2000 years.

Throughout the year, the Anderton Boat Lift offers regular boat trips for which there is a charge. 

For the boat trip booking is advisable on 01606 786 777.

The Anderton Boat Lift is owned by the Canal and River Trust

and was restored in 2002 after a £7 million restoration made possible due to a

substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Anderton Boat Lift and the Coffee Shop is open from 9.30am to 4pm during weekdays

and until 5.30pm on weekends, school holidays and Bank Holidays.

Costs for the River Trip and Boat Lift Trip are as follows:

9.30am - 5.30pm, across the whole Bank Holiday weekend - from Good Friday, 25 March to Easter Monday, 28 March.

There is no charge for children under 5 years old and the adult charge only applies to children over 15-years old.

The River Trip takes 40 minutes and includes a commentary on the unique industrial heritage of Northwich.

Boat Lift Trip

This Trip takes approximately 40 minutes during which visitors are transported through the Lift and given a commentary.

Special ‘Top of the World’ Tours

These hour-long tours are only available on a selected number of days

and allow visitors to go on a guided tour on to the Boat Lift itself, including to the very top of the structure

The ‘Top of the World Tour’ is not advisable for anyone with a fear of heights.
